Notices

The Committee have learned of the sad loss of the following League members.

Dave Fryett (1954 - 2021)

Dave played in the quiz league for more than 30 years, originally as captain of one of the Britannia Inn teams (when that pub could boast four teams) and latterly for the Blue Anchor, Bolton-le-Sands. He would be embarrassed at being eulogised so it is sufficient to say his was a life lived well and he will be missed by his friends and family and in particular the other members of his team.

John Fidler (1936-2021)

It is with great regret that we report the death of John Fidler, aged 84. John played in the LCQL for nearly 40 years and was one of its finest players. He won numerous trophies and represented Lancaster in the tripartite inter-league matches against Barrow and Kendal in the 1980s. John was also an active Chairman of the LCQL from 1984 until 1988, during which time he oversaw an early reform of the League’s Rules.

Irene Monaghan - George and Dragon A

Philip Wraith (Aged 76)

He first played in the league in 1972 for a Britannia team. He also played for Greyhound Hotel, Skerton Hotel A and a Vale of Lune team amongst others. He finally dropped anchor at Lancaster Cricket Club B in 2011. He served on the Committee for a number of years, including two seasons as League Treasurer.

Robert Chick (Aged 55) - Captain, Heysham Cricket Club.
