Welcome to the Lancaster City Quiz League website.

The Lancaster City Quiz League started in 1969 and currently comprises 30 teams.

They are divided into 3 divisions and play each other on a "home and away" basis. Matches are held at 8.30 each Monday night from September to May.


Venue Changes for 2023-24:

With immediate effect - Division 2: George & Dragon have moved to the Tite & Locke at Lancaster Railway Station and will become Tite & Locke B. Consequently, the original Tite & Locke will become Tite & Locke A.

Division 3: Commodore Club have moved to the Old Hall at Heysham.

Question Setters for the pools will be chosen from the following - Blue Anchor B/S C; Lancaster C & SC B; Dog & Partridge; Skerton Liberal Club; Station Hotel A; Gregson B; Hest Bank C and Heysham Cricket Club. Work will begin on compiling the Cup Fixtures immediately after the Week 11 results have been taken into account in the tables. They will be discussed at the Committee Meeting on 6th December 2023. Setters please be aware that the first cup quiz will be required on 6th January 2024 for 8th January 2024.

New Teams for 2023-24:

The League is pleased to report that 2 former teams have rejoined the League. The former Boot & Shoe A will play as Fox & Goose A and Lancaster Railway Club will play at its original venue.


Commmittee Meeting: - The next Committee Meeting will be at 8pm on Wednesday, 6th December 2023 at Lancaster Cricket & Social Club.

Before setting a quiz, all question setters are requested to read the guidelines carefully and follow them. They have been put together by experienced players and setters and are designed to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable evening. In particular, adhere to the advice about the breadth of the rounds you set and keep the subject-matter general rather than narrowly focussed. If you would like any help or advice please contact a member of the committee.
